Amateur Hour in Renton
Casey Fitch 09-07-2010

The new regime in Renton seems to be off to a shaky start. I can understand wanting to rebuild a team that is in desparate need, but the timing of this is a little concerning. Getting rid of arguabley their best cover corner and receiver in the last week of the preseason.  They seem to be purging contracts in hopes of saving money in this uncapped year. WHY? They seem to have the money. Could it be that "Slippery" Pete Carroll and Johnny "be good"  Schneider have big dollar player in their sites. They still want Vincent Jackson. That is the only explantion for all this. Yes they paid off Housh to get some space at the position and yes they cut some payroll by making deals with Babs, T Jones, and Leroy Hill. I hope they have something up their sleave because it feels like amateur hour.

Seahawks Enter Season of Disaster?
Dan Bode 09-07-2010

The Seahawks are definataly changing, to what I don't yet know.  Hoosh, Wilson, Babinoux are out Mike Williams, possibly Charlie Whitehurst in?  Well not just yet but I have to imagine Hasselbeck wont last long with this regime who is trying to kill the "old" Seahawks and give birth to a younger, more physical Seahawk of the future. I think that is smart yes you could possibly salvage a division title but what then out in the first round? Instead of patching the team their re-rebuilding it.

Value of RB's Decreasing by the Minute
Casey Fitch 09-07-2010

It happens to all of us once in our Fantasy careers, (yes I said careers). You have a top three running back and he gets hurt. If you weren't smart enough to handcuff your coveted back you are in big trouble. Everyone knows there are 5-10 backs that come out of nowhere during the sesaon that provide big numbers. Drafting as a sleeper or picking up these backs are easy solutions as long as you jump on the free agent wire fast. Over the past 5 years the creeping of RB by commitee has eroded what was once a absolute nobrainer draft strategy. RB and RB back to back. No more is that the case.
Wide receivers are now the new backs. If getting a top ten back is as easy as picking him up week 5 then you should go after the top tier WR, QB, or TE.  If you can get a top three player at each positon you have a pretty good chance of making a run.

SPSB Fantasy Top Ten Week 1

Picture
      1.       Chris Johnson – Most explosive player since Barry Sanders, and he’s just getting started.
      2.       Maurice Jones Drew – Can score at anytime which is a pretty nice thing to have in Fantasy.

3.       Adrian Petersen- “A Beast” Maybe down graded if Farve can’t continue to amaze.

4.       Michael Turner- If he can stay injury free can score like a pinball. Goaline carries guarantee.

5.       Ray Rice- The most exciting Rookie last year. Can catch the ball and score. With another year in the offense can only get better.

6.       Frank Gore- Singletary has to rely on him if they want to win. Maybe too much, buyers beware.

7.       Andre Johnson – A lot of balls, a lot of redzone balls, a lot of TD’s. No doubt here.

8.       Drew Brees- The fantasy QB last season.  This year should be no different. Has protection and will throw.

9.       Reggie Wayne- Still Mannings go to guy. Believe he will get touches all day.

10.   Peyton Manning- After surgery still should be as good as ever.
