Peyton Manning to the Seahawks.......Why Not?
Casey Fitch 11-18-2011
Why not? The Colts right now are destined to pick Andrew Luck first round. They are horrible without my NFL MVP Peyton Manning. If they pick Luck they will surely be ready to have him start right away. That is the way it is right now in the NFL. Rookie QB's don't sit around anymore. Dalton, Newton, and others are solid even in their first year. If all this is true they will be trading their aging QB Manning. The Seahawks are the perfect destination. Hawks are an NFC team, no threat to the Colts. Pete and John love to make a splash and there wouldn't be a bigger one. Yes it would cost a whole lot, and yes he is an aging veteran, but he is Peyton Frickin' Manning. Now if the Colts were smart they wouldn't dream of trading him unless they get a big package. The Hawks would throw something at them so let's hope it can stick.

Pete Carroll LeBron James and Ra Ra
Casey Fitch 10-17-2011
You know at first you have to hate him. He is the leader of USC that has made your college team look pedestrian for years. Then he comes in as Seahawk coach displacing a hometown guy who only had a year. I mean come on Ra Ra this and Ra Ra that. This is a genuine feeling of dislike for my favorite teams head coach. I decided I would read his book......Ok I listened to it on a flight out of town. I felt like I understood him a little more. Then the Twitter hits. Pete Tweets song names to give hints of who they plan to draft. Still not sure if that made any sense. Now the tweet to LeBron. By now the story is old news but I like it. I realize there is no LeBron the football player but it keeping this team relevant. Every Seattle team is irrelevant to the rest of the country. This is just the way it is. As a Seattle sports fan you have to like the fact that Paul Allen (the richest owner) went out and got the big name. This big name comes with all that Pete Carroll is. The Tweets, the Ra Ra, and maybe just maybe.....winning.
East Coast Giants too much to handle for Seahawks
Seahawks Tavaris Jackson Stayin' alive
Aaron Curry Chicken?
by Dan Bode 09-23-11
Seahawks demote 3rd year linebacker Aaron Curry not because he is lost, or doesn't know the defense. They demoted him because he is too scared and to cautious. Two things you can't be at linebacker. Curry is getting cleared out by WR's and RB's. Could you imagine one play in Ray Lewis' career where he got takin out by a RB? Is it fair to even compare Curry and Lewis? I say yes, to take a LB at 4 in the draft he must be a top player. LB is about anger and complete carelessness with your own body. Your body is a weapon and should be used as such. Take a look at Hawthorne, not even drafted but he holds the desired traits for the position. This is why his nickname references heat, energy, and power, and Curry is nothing but an over spiced east Indian chicken dish. Somthin stinks!

Hasselbeck is gone. Let's get over it.
By Casey Fitch
Hasselbeck is gone. Yes he is gone. Time to move forward with Tavaris and Co. It still hurts a bit because not only was Hass a solid player and the only QB to take this team to the Superbowl, but he was a great personality. You could tell he liked it here and our fans take that to heart. Usually all we hear is how free agents and the like don't like Seattle because of the rain. South Alaska they say. Not Hass. He made us feel special. He was the man and still will be held in the highest regards by Seahawks fans everywhere. Hasselbeck is gone as well as Lofa. If we can take anything from this, is that the front office is ready to move on. Ready to put their own stamp on this team. Only Leroy Hill and Marcus Trufant remain from the Superbowl year. Now it is time to start judging the new regime on these guys.
Tavaris should start and I am hoping that the new start for him can mean good things for us. I have faith in Pete and John but we wont let them off easy. Was the moves right. I think for the most part. Let's see what the new players can do. Hello Sidney, hello Tavaris, hello Gallery, hello Zach. Let's get back to superbowl caliber football.

Seahawks Free agency frenzy
I Told you Bedard!
By Casey Fitch 06-24-2011
I just wanted to take this time to thank myself. Thank myself for what you ask? Well to thank myself for being right about Eric Bedard. When everyone was pissing on Bedard calling for his head, I was steadfast in riding the bumpy bandwagon. Yes listen back to the podcasts (Mariners preview to name one). I have been claiming that Bedard has just been hurt and very capable of being the pitcher we traded Adam Jones away for. I figured that him being healthy can only mean pure domination by him and the rest of the staff. I mean you just can't all of a sudden forget how to pitch with Cy Young quality. To my not surprise he has done just that.
This rotation is the best we've ever had and I see playoffs in the future if we can just get past the pesky bat issue. Can somebody get a god damn hit! Holy Smokes. Ackley is now up which will help a bit but not going to put the M's over the top. It is time to look into making this team a contender. There's two or three potential all-stars in there! Don't sell the farm but if we can get a bargain bat take it Jack. And for those who want to trade Bedard. F off! If anything resign him now for a bargain. Come on Mariners we don't have chances like this every season. We don't have opportunities like this once a decade. Just make it happen.

Future and rotation looking brighter
Casey Fitch 05-19-2011
Felix, Pineda, Vargas, Fister, and even Bedard. Is this the best rotation in the Majors? It just might be. The stats give this thought some substance. If this team just had 2 more runs a game they would be all alone in first place. This is dreaming though. They don't have the bats right now, but if they can keep this rotation close to intact there are some bats growing up. They already called up Peguero and Wilson. Ackley can't be far behind. He is ripping up Triple A right now. They will be drafting a solid 3rd baseman out of Rice who can flat out hit Anthony Rendon. Jack Z should be proud at what he is building. I just hope these kids mature fast. Hopefully fast enough that the rotation doesn't fall to free agency or age.
Seahawks Draft in the trenches
Mariners are Terrible by Casey Fitch 04-18-2011
The Seattle Mariners are terrible. I realize this is not breaking news, but I am getting real sick and tired of it. The years and years of ineptitude have pushed me to the brink. This is as bad as you can get. The M's are in Royal's territory. Except they've won a World Series and they just about swept the last series.
Get some bats already. Watching the Mariner offense is like watching nascar. It is brutal. Sometimes when I watch I question my sanity. Why would I put myself through such torcher? Am I a satomasacist? I know they won't hit the ball but still I continue to hope and dream. Season is over. Better luck next year.
How hard is it to get bats? I really don't know but I wish someone could explain to me why we are consistently signing has beens. If that.
Hope we can get a bat in the next two drafts. We will be picking real high.
Signed every Mariner Fan.

10 year anniversary of greatness
Dan Bode 04-04-2011
With every analyst and fan chalking up a 90 loss team, is it possible to do the unthinkable again? In '01 the Mariners started their original 5 starting pitchers all season, every start. That being alot to ask for but if the M's can stay healthy they have 5 quality starters. Felix enough said. Vargas reminds me of Jaimie Moyer. He has great control, a good change, and pitches low in the zone, a must when you top out at 90mph. Fister is a question mark. I notice he pitches up in the zone too much, and he needs to change speeds more. Bedard is a possible second ace. He has the stuff and if healthy watch out. Pineda is the wild card. I look forward to what he can do. As for the bullpen, it looks shaky now but guys need to step up. I will pray for the offense because if we repeat history we're going to need at least 4 guys other than Ichiro hitting 300. Anything is possibe Go M's.

Superbowl Preview Show Steelers v. Packers Podcast
Huskies sure thing Pac 10 title
Casey Fitch 01-28-2011
The Huskies are good. They will have no problem taking the Pac this year and should be a lock for sweet 16. The question is how far will they go? Thomas is having a tremendous year as he has transformed his game from ball hog to John Stockton. It's about time he realized that if he ever wants to make it in the NBA he has to play the point. This has opened up the shooters on the team to do their job and everything is clicking. If the allegations of rape ever turn into charges they may be short an important player. I can speculate who that is but I am sure it is not Thomas. He is playing too well to be having that over his head. The Huskies just need to stick with handling a down Pac 10 and postion themelves for a solid seed in the tourney.
They have been able to keep their core talent through the years as the rest of the Pac has seen their players go to the show. The experience will guide them to atleast a 3 seed in my mind. What can they do with it?
Rebuilding Starts up Front
Casey Fitch 01-28-2011
Well a wild year is finally over. The Seahawks make it all the way to the divisional series even though they seemed destined for a top 10 draft pick only months ago. Overall I think the feeling should be good. I mean for god's sake they made it to the playoffs didn't they. The reality though is there still is a mother load of rebuilding left to do. First things first let's resign Hasselbeck. Yes he is not as good as he once was, but they will need that bridge to the future. A solid QB is so important to a rebuilding project and I don't think it is a good idea to throw him to the fire right away. Hass is the perfect QB to bridge the gap. Well liked and smart. We need to draft a QB but not necessarily in the first round. We have far bigger problems to deal with right away. The offensive line is still horrendous. The D line can use some help and the secondary is down right terrible. They need another Corner that could be had in free agency and talk about getting old Lawyer Milloy is ancient. You could see it by his blown coverage in the Bears game. Another position that doesn't get nearly enough attention is linebacker. Is it just me or is Lofa overrated. Yeah he is the "heart" of the defense but really have you seen his plays. He is constantly over pursuing and frankly too small to be a factor in a big time D. Alot to do and so little draft picks. Could be another tough year next year. I can't see this team contending even in the NFC Worst.
BeastQuake hits Chicago Bears
Do you Believe in Miracles? I do now
Casey Fitch 01-10-2010
An earthquake rattled Seattle Saturday afternoon. Yes for real. This quake was not started by a shift of tectonic plates. This quake was set off by a run that some people are calling the best run in Seahawk history. You all know what happen. Beast mode happened. The Hawks did the impossible and now point themselves toward a rematch of an early season victory against the Bears. On the road will be tougher but if they play like they did Saturday anything can happen. Pretty good for a team I said would win 4 games this season.
Saints v. Seahawks and the 12th man podcast
Why Not Seahawks?
Casey Fitch 01-05-2010
So you're telling me there's a chance? The Hawks have a shot. As much as everyone and their dogs think the Seahawks are one and done, that is just not a sure thing. They played the Saints tougher than they played anyone on the road this year. Hasselbeck had his best game against the Saints. 300+ yards passing. If they could have plugged it in the zone instead of fieldgoals they would have had a chance in the last game. Hass wasn't even sacked. The Saints run D doesn't scare me. If the Hawks can establish a run game, keep Matt protected ( and I did say Matt not Charlie), and convert in the redzone. Why not? The 12th man will be there to help this time and if all the Saints injuries and overconfidence keeps mounting anything can happen. Com'n Seahawks!
Rams v Seahawks Sunday night...Please please please get well soon Matt
Casey Fitch 12-27-2010
How do you feel about Charlie now? Another horrible performance out of your "project" and now we are praying for Matt to come back for the big game. Yes, I said it, the big game. Charle couln't mount any kind of sustainable drive against Tampa. We will have no chance of beating the Rams if he is the starter. If Hasselbeck doesn't come back next week that would have been his last play as a Seahawk.
Can we win on Sunday Night football or will it be Doneday night football? Yes we can do it, with Hass of course. For those of you who were chanting Charlie and those of you who want to lose the game for draft picks (I'm sure the same morons), you have no idea what you are talking about. You should just continue to go to Mariner games and leave football to those who care about the Seahawks. Let's go Hawks! Who knows maybe we can win two in a row and beat Drew Brees.....now who's a moron right?

Uconn Women record just for girls
Casey Fitch 12-23-2010
I'm sorry if this seems sexist but come on. People are trying to compare a record by the UConn Women's basketball team to the record set by John Wooden's UCLA Men's team. What a joke. When comparing two teams and their records you only have to think of one thing. If they played head to head who would win? I am sure the answer is very obvious. You can't compare Men's sports to Women's sports in the same fishbowl. They are two different animals. The competion is much much weaker in Women's Basketball too. Please stop trying to make your self look better coach. You are no John Wooden. It is a remarkable record but the reality is no one cares about women's college basketball unless you are UConn or a former women's player. Give me a Break.
Don't even think about trading Felix
Casey Fitch 12-23-2010
I can't believe what I heard the other day. People were talking about trading Felix. What a joke. The thought was we aren't going to win while we have him so we should plan ahead and trade him for players that are going to go off when the rest of our team grows up. What a loser mentality. I understand the point and I partially agree that we are a few years out. The problem I have with this is in this town we are constantly giving away our superstars. Sometimes they can't wait to leave town. In this case, Felix wants to be here. He signed a deal that we all were surprised he would. We have to keep the best player on the team no matter what the Yankees try to give us. He is our Felix and I want to keep it that way.

Wish we were seeing Red
Casey Fitch 12-4-2010
Who would have thought he would be so valuable? The Seahawks Defense started out the season shutting down running games. Now not so much. The difference has to be the duo of Colin Cole and Red Bryant being out. Cole is coming back sooner rather than later but Red is gone.
You have to love the big guys on the d line after we had Ruskell's puny line. It is refreshing to see big guys up front. The Hawks took a huge hit with Red and will have to fill holes to try and scratch and claw (ode to Jim Mora) out a playoff spot.
I always thought it was funny that Jacob Green's daughter is with Red Bryant. For years it was Green and Bryant for the seahawks up front.

We love you Dave
Casey Fitch 11-25-2010
He felt our pain.He expressed our pain for us. People can have Their East coast bias, I'll take Dave. He was one of theose iconic figures that you never think could die. He was like a god and in many way he never will die. I think we loved him so much because he was an extension of us. He was a fan. When we were down, so was he. When we lost you can feel the frustration he was feeling. He wanted them to win so bad, just like us. This relationship must be rare. Turning down the TV to listen to Dave on the radio. He cared when the M's were good and he cared when the were bad. Just like his unconditional love for the M's, we will always be rooting for you Dave. Rest in Peace.

What Happened to the NFL?
Casey Fitch 10-20-2010
Yet again the NFL has decided to minimize the wow factor. I can understand trying to protect NFL football players. I can see trying to limit the concussion probablities. When is enough, enough? I think roughing the passer started this whole p***ification of the NFL. What's next, fines for good play, microphones in the helmet to drown out crowd noise? I hope this stops soon or the scores will start to resemble the arena league.

Bring the Thunder
Casey Fitch 10-15-2010
The Seahawks made yet another move during the bye week. Trading for Marshawn Lynch. This a great move. The Hawks finally have a physical back. They haven't had a physical back since.....never. The only guy that comes to mind is Derek Fenner. Remember Fenner. He was a beast, but not like Lynch. The best part about him is he is only 24 years old. You would think he was atleast 27 since has been running over linebackers and out running safeties for it seems forever. Two time pro bowler and two time 1,000 yard rusher.
The Hawks really need a physical back too. The offensive line is still terrible. They need the line to be the same for more than a half an hour. Can't wait to see his debut even though we mostly likely will get killed by the bears. Let's go Hawks!

Stop with the QB controversy
Casey Fitch 09-21-2010

Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images
Are we really talking about "Sorry" Charlie Whitehurst. I am mean this is gettng ridiculous. I hear radio guys and newspaper guys from around here and around the nation talk about Seahawk Fans not being Fan Savy. I am always one to defend us. It is said we are bandwagon (isn't everyone), or how we don't know when to cheer, or that we don't know when to say goodbye to our legends. Maybe all this is true, maybe it's not, but when I started hearing this week that people are seriously calling for Hasselbeck to lose his starting job, I couldn't defend us anymore. What the hell are people thinking. Matt is a little older but still a very quality quarterback in this league. His injury woes have hurt his credibility in this town but with a revamped o-line he has a chance to still be a playoff QB. He had a decent game against the 49ers and a terrible one agaist the Broncos. He should have all the time he needs this year to make us a winner. The reality is next year he is probably gone regardless. His time as a Seahawk is up just like his contract. I just hope this year he goes out with a bang and we can compete in this winnable NFC West.
Amateur Hour in Renton
Casey Fitch 09-07-2010
The new regime in Renton seems to be off to a shaky start. I can understand wanting to rebuild a team that is in desparate need, but the timing of this is a little concerning. Getting rid of arguabley their best cover corner and receiver in the last week of the preseason. They seem to be purging contracts in hopes of saving money in this uncapped year. WHY? They seem to have the money. Could it be that "Slippery" Pete Carroll and Johnny "be good" Schneider have big dollar player in their sites. They still want Vincent Jackson. That is the only explantion for all this. Yes they paid off Housh to get some space at the position and yes they cut some payroll by making deals with Babs, T Jones, and Leroy Hill. I hope they have something up their sleave because it feels like amateur hour.

Seahawks Enter Season of Disaster?
Dan Bode 09-07-2010
The Seahawks are definataly changing, to what I don't yet know. Hoosh, Wilson, Babinoux are out Mike Williams, possibly Charlie Whitehurst in? Well not just yet but I have to imagine Hasselbeck wont last long with this regime who is trying to kill the "old" Seahawks and give birth to a younger, more physical Seahawk of the future. I think that is smart yes you could possibly salvage a division title but what then out in the first round? Instead of patching the team their re-rebuilding it.
Value of RB's Decreasing by the Minute
Casey Fitch 09-07-2010
It happens to all of us once in our Fantasy careers, (yes I said careers). You have a top three running back and he gets hurt. If you weren't smart enough to handcuff your coveted back you are in big trouble. Everyone knows there are 5-10 backs that come out of nowhere during the sesaon that provide big numbers. Drafting as a sleeper or picking up these backs are easy solutions as long as you jump on the free agent wire fast. Over the past 5 years the creeping of RB by commitee has eroded what was once a absolute nobrainer draft strategy. RB and RB back to back. No more is that the case.
Wide receivers are now the new backs. If getting a top ten back is as easy as picking him up week 5 then you should go after the top tier WR, QB, or TE. If you can get a top three player at each positon you have a pretty good chance of making a run.
SPSB Fantasy Top Ten Week 1
1. Chris Johnson – Most explosive player since Barry Sanders, and he’s just getting started.
2. Maurice Jones Drew – Can score at anytime which is a pretty nice thing to have in Fantasy.
3. Adrian Petersen- “A Beast” Maybe down graded if Farve can’t continue to amaze.
4. Michael Turner- If he can stay injury free can score like a pinball. Goaline carries guarantee.
5. Ray Rice- The most exciting Rookie last year. Can catch the ball and score. With another year in the offense can only get better.
6. Frank Gore- Singletary has to rely on him if they want to win. Maybe too much, buyers beware.
7. Andre Johnson – A lot of balls, a lot of redzone balls, a lot of TD’s. No doubt here.
8. Drew Brees- The fantasy QB last season. This year should be no different. Has protection and will throw.
9. Reggie Wayne- Still Mannings go to guy. Believe he will get touches all day.
10. Peyton Manning- After surgery still should be as good as ever.
